The system produces a particular kind of address: it speaks to you as an individual, about your choices, your mindset, your capacity to adapt. The structural condition is translated — always — into a personal one. You did not fail because the ground shifted. You failed to anticipate the shift. You failed to upskill. You failed to pivot. The language of failure is always in the second person.
This is one of the primary operations of the machinery: it personalizes what is structural and thereby prevents the structural from becoming legible as a problem that requires collective response.
