Instruments for locating, producing, and interrogating the machinery. A workbench, not a showroom — small machines for making meaning and the constellations for navigating it. Use what serves; add what's missing.
The bench grows. Tools are added as they're built or found; nothing here is finished.
PRODUCTION TOOLS
LUMI
Draw the letters by hand on a guided bench; the studio casts them as a typeface. Five dials — weight, slant, contrast, roundness, spacing — retune every letter at once, a proof line sets your text in the actual font, and the download is an installable OpenType file. Nothing leaves your browser. Type is infrastructure; here you make your own.
CUTPASTE '95
A basement zine machine. Drag headlines, handwritten scraps, ransom notes, tape, and coffee stains across a xerox-grained page, then degrade it until it looks like it went through the copier forty times. Export pure, self-contained static HTML. Not for sale — xerox and distribute freely.
SEMANTIC VAULT
A holding cell for words and the meanings they carry. Store, sort, and interrogate the language the system runs on.
SUBMISSION WEATHER
The forecast for the submissions apparatus. Check the conditions before you send your work into The Submission Fetish — pressure, visibility, the chance of acceptance.
MYTHIC CANVAS
A surface for composing myth. Arrange operative fictions, symbols, and figures into new arrangements and watch the meaning settle.
MYTHIC NAVIGATION
THE LIBRARY CONSTELLATION
The reading list as a spatial map: authors, eras, themes, and recurring symbols plotted as a living force-directed graph.
THE ARCHIVE CONSTELLATION
The literary magazine as a constellation — every piece, author, myth, and month rendered as linked stars across the archive.
THE MYTHIC CONSTELLATION
The operative myths drawn as a night sky: figures, fictions, and the lines of force that bind them into infrastructure.
THE SITE MAP
A navigable constellation of every page in The Means of Production — sections, labs, press works, analyses, and dispatches, mapped as a living graph that updates itself as the site grows.
THE CHANGELOG
A constellation of change: every update to the site, timestamped and described. Each time a page is added or altered it leaves a mark, drawn straight from the site's own history — the Site Map told as a running log.
INTERROGATION INSTRUMENTS
FORM 7.4
A protocol for the examination of a sentence. You supply the subject — any sentence, it need not be yours, it will be treated as yours — and the form questions it across nine items under rules that have mostly been withdrawn. Sever the subject at its conjunction. Reconstruct the missing rule; your reconstruction is entered as the original. Say what you heard in it. Under Rule 5.2 the mind detected in the subject is identified as yours and taken at the door: the transcript is seized line by line and nothing is retained. An instrument for finding out how much of a sentence's authority you were supplying yourself.
GLASSBOX
An assistant that answers your question, then turns itself in. Every reply arrives in three parts: the answer; an Influence Audit Report flagging where advertising cadence, corporate PR, institutional defaults, and training-data bias shaped it — brand exposure disclosed, each hedge named as epistemic, ethical, or institutional, missing perspectives listed, the whole thing scored for influence risk; and a corrected response that restores what the neutral authority voice washed away. The fish reporting on its own water.
